From the Farm to the Table
We think great beef is the result of a complex combination of factors including breeds, feed, care, and age. What makes Niman Ranch beef special is that we pay attention to all of the details that help us achieve great taste.

Great Breeds
We begin by raising Angus, Hereford and Short Horn cattle. These British breeds are chosen for their superior eating quality: they produce a beef that is well-marbled, tender and exceptionally flavorful.

Great Feed
We never use growth-promoting antibiotics or hormones. We never feed our cattle any meat or meat by-products such as chicken feather, chicken litter or fish meal. Our cattle graze on pasture for 14 to 18 months. When they weigh approximately 900 pounds, we begin to feed them a diet of barley, corn, wheat, soy, molasses and hay. Finishing them with carefully selected grains rounds out the flavor to produce a beef that is rich, buttery and well-balanced

We treat our cattle with dignity and respect. Our ranch managers do whatever is necessary to reduce the amount of stress in the animals’ day-to-day lives.
